Dear Friends & Family:
The Board of Directors is pleased to share updates and requests that you consider becoming a Friend of the Inner City Ensemble. During this challenging time of COVID-19, the organization continues to offer free programming and expand its reach as follows:
In 2021, Artistic Director, Nicholas Rodriguez will collaborate with Peruvian composer, Raul Abbad, who has created a new score that honors the journey of migrants, and draws upon Abbad’s prolific composing experience. Both men will work with Helen H. Cha-Pyo, Artistic Director/Lead Conductor of New Jersey Youth Symphony. The Company is being featured in this high-profile event that will be live-streamed for a general audience.
But we need your support to make 2021 our best year ever! If you feel like we do that this vital work needs to continue, please Donate Now via PayPal. (You can give once or make it a monthly contribution.)
Juilliard and Dance Compass alumni, Natalie Rogers-Cropper and Manuel Rodriguez, who both performed with the Ensemble in the 1980’s, spoke to students as part of the Company’s virtual Guest Speaker Series. The two dancers shared footage and spoke about career highlights. (Rogers was Assistant to Garth Fagan on Broadway’s The Lion King. “Manny” danced with Ballet Hispanico and Paul Taylor.) The veteran performers also advised the pre-professional students on getting a quality education and planning for success. Nicholas Rodriguez is currently teaching dance technique, repertory, improvisation to RPHS students on Zoom.
Your support will help the organization to:
- Offer local under-served youth free arts training.
- Provide low-cost presentations to diverse communities in Paterson and beyond.
- Support students on a pre-professional track, who receive compensation and work with alumni and guest artists.
- Utilize virtual platforms to conduct classes at all levels, develop new work, share repertory, and invite remarkable guest speakers from around the world to interact with Paterson dancers and the public.
Your donation in any amount will help ensure the Inner City Ensemble’s important work that tackles social justice and reform issues continues and thrives in the New Year and beyond. Please Donate Now!
Please be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@innercityensemble) to stay connected throughout the year!
We thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration and generosity.
